UNC Asheville Student Group Hosts Information Session on World Camp for Kids Volunteer Opportunities

UNC Asheville’s student chapter of Amnesty International will host an information session on World Camp for Kids at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, in UNC Asheville’s Highsmith University Union, room 221. Directors and past volunteers for World Camp will discuss the program’s history and volunteer application process. A short video and pictures from past trips to Malawi and Honduras will be shown. The event is free and open to the public.

World Camp is a non-profit organization committed to empowering children in impoverished communities around the world through education. World Camp carries out its mission through a strong volunteer base of individuals committed to helping others as well as experiencing different cultures and countries. World Camp currently offers volunteer programs in Malawi, Africa and Tela, Honduras. Since 2000, volunteers from 24 universities have educated 25,000 children about HIV/AIDS prevention, nutrition, gender equality, environmental awareness and human rights. Volunteers from the community as well as students are encouraged to apply.
