Hayden Wilson working on a piece at the Penland School of Crafts

“A Neon Show,” featuring glass art by UNC Asheville senior Hayden Wilson, will be on view August 11-31 at the LG Gallery in downtown Asheville. An opening reception will be held from 7-10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, in the gallery. The exhibit includes the work of eight other neon artists.

Wilson, a senior art major and curator of the exhibit, is incorporating glass cast pieces he created during a two week glass casting class at the Penland School of Crafts. Wilson was awarded a scholarship for the course after presenting a paper on “Making and Meaning: Craft Arts in Practice, Experience and Theory” at the 20th annual National
Conference on Undergraduate Research in April.

Other neon artists in the show are Roddy Capers, Chris Cole, UNC Asheville Alumnus Ben Elliot, Arlo Fishman, Jacob Fishman, Bruce Jordan, David Smith and David Wilson, Hayden’s father.
