Writers at Home Series Continues with Readings by UNC Asheville Students

The Writers at Home Series continues with readings by UNC Asheville students Antonio Del Torro and Caitlin Shanley at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 16, at Malaprop’s Bookstore/Café, 55 Haywood St. Both students were recipients of the Comfort Scholarship for Excellence in Creative Writing. Writers at Home is part of the Great Smokies Writing Program, a consortium of Western North Carolina writers and UNC Asheville. The event is free and open to the public.

Del Torro is a senior creative writing major. He writes short fiction, creative non-fiction and poetry. He has been published in Headwaters, UNC Asheville’s literary magazine, and has been nominated to submit a piece to the Association of Writers & Writing Programs Intro Awards.

Shanley is a senior literature major with a concentration in creative writing. She writes flash fiction and was the winner of UNC Asheville’s Thomas Wolfe Fiction Award.
