CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Erin Trigonoplos, a senior women’s soccer player, has been named as UNC Asheville’s NCAA Woman of the Year for 2005. The announcement of the award was made by the Big South Conference today.

Trigonoplos earned the award for outstanding service to the community. She was President of UNC Asheville’s Habitat for Humanity and served as President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee in 2005.

This past fall, she worked as a student assistant women’s soccer coach for the Bulldogs, and helped lead UNC Asheville to its second straight Big South Conference regular-season championship.

Trigonoplos was a four-year starter for the Bulldogs as a defender. She was a member of the Big South All-Academic team for women’s soccer in 2002 and 2003. The Englewood, Colorado native earned a spot on the Big South All-Tournament team in 2002 and 2004 and was a second team all-conference performer in 2003 and 2004.
