Two UNC Asheville Alumni & Development division staff members were recently promoted.

Julie C. Heinitsh was named Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development. In this position, Heinitsh is responsible for developing major and planned gifts for the University. She joined the Division of Alumni and Development in May 1999. She has served as Director of Development as well as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development for the University’s annual giving programs. Previously, she worked at Brevard College’s Institutional Advancement Office and spent 15 years in the banking industry. She holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, and a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Vanderbilt University.

Timothy N. McClain has been named Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development for Annual Programs. He is responsible for overseeing fund raising for the University’s annual fund, senior gift, parents’ program, class reunion gifts and faculty/staff campaigns. McClain joined the division in May 2004. He has served as director of gift planning and endowments as well as assistant vice chancellor for special projects. Previously, he worked in the Pennsylvania State University Division of Development and Alumni Relations. McClain separated from the U.S. Air Force as staff sergeant in 1998 after 11 years of service. He holds a bachelor’s degree in human resources from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pa.
