“WNC Perspectives,” an exhibition featuring 20 photographs by Asheville artist Shirley B. McLaughlin, will be on view through July 28 at UNC Asheville’s Blowers Gallery. The color, digital, and hand-tinted black-and-white photographs depict the flora and fauna of Western North Carolina.
McLaughlin’s interest in photography began in childhood under the instruction of a family friend. Later she studied photography while earning a degree in art education from Western Carolina University. McLaughlin, who also holds advanced degrees in library science and education administration from Appalachian State University, served as head librarian and director of the Learning Resource Center at A-B Tech for nearly 30 years.
Blowers Gallery, located on the main floor of UNC Asheville’s Ramsey Library, is open during regular library hours. Admission is free. For hours of operation, call UNC Asheville’s Ramsey Library at 828/251-6546.
