UNC Asheville to Hold Lecture in Honor of Martin Luther King Jr.;
African-American Health Advocate to Discuss HIV/AIDS

UNC Asheville will host a talk on “HIV/AIDS: Healthy Choices” by Rev. Ronald J. Weatherford at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, in UNC Asheville’s Laurel Forum, Karpen Hall. Weatherford, a prominent African-American health advocate, will give the talk as part of UNC Asheville’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day observances. The event is free and open to the public.

A noted speaker and United Methodist minister, Weatherford is the founder of Nia’s Ark, an outreach organization promoting educational health programs in faith communities. He authored “Somebody’s Knocking at Your Door: AIDS and the African-American Church” and has written on the topic for newspapers nationwide. Weatherford currently resides in High Point with his wife and two children.
