UNC Asheville
will conduct a summer comparative education program in England from
June 28-July 25, 2006. The program is held in cooperation with the
University of Bath. U.S. teachers can visit English classrooms that
are still in session and attend lectures on the new "National
Curriculum," the historical development of the British education
system and on global environmental problems. The program includes
field trips to areas of special education interests, such as Oxford
University, the Slimbridge wildfowl and wetland field station, Kew
Gardens and science museums.
Spaces on the
trip are still available to anyone who is or has been involved with
K-12 education. The $2,900 fee covers tuition, ground transportation
and private housing on the University of Bath campus. Participants’
spouses and/or adolescent children may also attend at a cost of
$1,450.
