UNC Asheville Board of Trustees to Meet November 14UNC Asheville’s Board of Trustees will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, in UNC Asheville’s Ramsey Library Red Oak Conference Room. The board will gather for a continental breakfast at 8 a.m., and will convene its meeting at 8:30 a.m. with briefings and a learning circle led by Bruce Larson, director of the UNC Asheville Center for Teaching & Learning. The morning session will wrap up with remarks by Chancellor Anne Ponder. The Audit Committee will meet at noon for a working lunch in the Red Oak Room, while the remainder of the board will break for lunch in the Ramsey Library Whitman Room. Following lunch, Trustee Doug Orr will lead a session on board effectiveness. Also, Board committees and University departments will give reports, including: Audit, Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Alumni and Development, Finance and Real Property, General Counsel, Diversity, External Relations and Athletics. The meeting is open to the public. Portions of the meeting may be closed to the public under the provision of the North Carolina Open Meetings Act. The UNC Asheville Board of Trustees has 13 members; eight are appointed by the UNC Board of Governors and four are appointed by the governor. The UNC Asheville Student Government Association president, who is elected by the student body, also sits on the board. The UNC Asheville Board of Trustees promotes the sound development of the University and serves as advisor to the Board of Governors and the chancellor.
