UNC Asheville Board of Trustees to Meet August 15-16UNC Asheville’s Board of Trustees will meet from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, and 8:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Aug. 16, in UNC Asheville’s Ramsey Library Red Oak Conference Room. On Tuesday, the board will elect officers and discuss, among other topics, board effectiveness and board development. The board will adjourn at 5 p.m., and has been invited by a third party to a reception that evening at the Grove Arcade. On Wednesday, the board will gather for a continental breakfast at 8:30 a.m., and will convene its meeting at 9 a.m. The following Board committees and University departments will give reports during the meeting: Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Alumni and Development, Audit, Finance and Real Property, Diversity, External Relations, General Counsel and Athletics. The meeting is open to the public. Some items on the agenda of this meeting may be considered in closed session under the provision of the North Carolina Open Meetings Act. The UNC Asheville Board of Trustees has 13 members; eight are appointed by the UNC Board of Governors and four are appointed by the governor. The UNC Asheville Student Government Association president, who is elected by the student body, also sits on the board. The UNC Asheville Board of Trustees promotes the sound development of the University and serves as advisor to the Board of Governors and the chancellor.
