UNC Asheville's Writers at Home Series Continues with Readings by Catherine Landis and Leigh WilkersonUNC Asheville's 2004-05 Writers at Home Series continues with readings by Catherine Landis and Leigh Wilkerson at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 16, at Malaprop's Bookstore/Café, 55 Haywood St. Writers at Home is part of the Great Smokies Writing Program, a consortium of Western North Carolina writers and UNC Asheville. The event is free and open to the public. Landis is a novelist and Chattanooga, Tenn. native. After graduation from Davidson College, she served as a newspaper reporter and worked in public television. She is the author of two novels, "Harvest" and "Some Days There’s Pie," both published by St. Martin’s Press. Wilkerson is a poet and essayist living near Burnsville. Inspired by the natural world, she writes and speaks on connecting to the earth as well as preserving wild places. Her work has recently appeared in Appalachian Heritage and Our State magazines as well as in the Asheville Citizen-Times and on public radio.
