TheatreUNCA Presents "The Shape of Things" April 20-24
How far would you go for love? Find out just how far a college student will go to get the girl of his dreams when TheatreUNCA stages Neil LaBute’s popular play “The Shape of Things” April 20-24 at UNC Asheville’s Carol Belk Theatre. “The Shape of Things” opens with amiable literature major Adam patrolling the college art museum while working as a guard. He comes across art student Evelyn attempting to deface a large male statue, and tries to intercede but quickly becomes enamored. Evelyn soon enters Adam’s circle of friends, and her influence becomes evident as Adam changes his behavior, diet, appearance and lifestyle in his efforts to impress her. “The Shape of Things” contains dazzling twists and thought-provoking turns to keep audiences on the edge of their seats. “The Shape of Things” is directed by Laura Facciponti, UNC Asheville associate professor of drama. Rob Bowen, drama department chair, designed the sets, lighting and sound. Assistant Professor of Drama Ida Bostian designed costumes. The cast includes drama majors Eric Cover, Julia Cunningham, Randy Padgett and Hayley Schiebel. Curtain is 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday with a matinee at 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10 general admission, $8 senior citizens and $5 students. Because of the intimate size of UNC Asheville’s Carol Belk Theatre and often heavy demand for tickets, advance purchase is strongly advised. Tickets may be charged by phone by calling 828/232-2291 between 10 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays. Tickets are also available at the box office one hour before each curtain and online at www.unca.edu/drama. This production is recommended for adult audiences only. For more information, call UNC Asheville’s Drama Department at 828/251-6610. Media Contacts:
