UNC Asheville Faculty Promoted, New Chairs Named

Several UNC Asheville faculty members recently received promotions. Promoted to full professor were Melissa Himelein, psychology; Cynthia Ho, literature and language; Edward Katz, literature and language; Jeanne McGlinn, education; and Kevin Moorhead, environmental studies. Promoted to associate professor were Rebecca Bruce, computer science; Brian Butler, philosophy; Sandra Byrd, education; David Clarke, biology; Mark Harvey, psychology; Lori Horvitz, literature and language; Karin Peterson, sociology; Barbara Reynolds, environmental studies; and Greta Trautmann, foreign languages.

Gregg Kormanik was named Chief Research Officer for the University. New department chairs and program directors are Chuck Bennett, Pisgah Astronomical Research and Education Center; Melissa Burchard, Master of Liberal Arts Program; Sandra Byrd, Asheville Graduate Center; and Katie Peters, Honors Program.
