New Members Appointed to UNC Asheville Board of TrusteesFour new members were recently appointed to the UNC Asheville Board of Trustees and two members were reappointed for addition terms. Appointed for four-year terms by the University of North Carolina Board of Governors were: James R. Buckner, regional vice president of CompassLearning Inc.; Joseph F. Damore, president and CEO of Mission Health and Hospitals; Imogene (Cissie) Radeker Stevens, retired director of the N.C. Center for Creative Retirement’s College for Seniors; and Alfred J. Whitesides Jr., vice president of Wachovia Bank. Reappointed by Governor Michael Easley for additional four-year terms were: Janice W. Brumit, vice president of The Winning Team Inc., and Leslie Coman, Capstrat public affairs specialist. New officers were also elected for the 2005-06 term. These are Charles Tolley, chair; Janice Brumit, vice chair; and Michael Tanner, secretary. The UNC Asheville Board of Trustees has 13 members; eight are appointed by the UNC Board of Governors and four are appointed by the Governor. The UNC Asheville Student Government Association president, who is elected by the student body, also sits on the board. The UNC Asheville Board of Trustees promotes the sound development of the University and serves as advisor to the Board of Governors and the chancellor. Media Contacts:
