UNC Asheville Hosts a Reading by Novelist Kevin McIlvoyUNC Asheville’s Creative Writing Program and Literature club will host a reading by novelist Ken McIlvoy at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, in UNC Asheville’s Laurel Forum, Karpen Hall. The event is free and open to the public. McIlvoy has published four novels: “A Waltz,” “The Fifth Station,” “Little Peg” and “Hyssop.” His short stories have appeared in numerous journals, including The Southern Review, Ploughshares and TriQuarterly. His short story collection, “The Complete History of New Mexico,” will be published this month by Graywolf Press. McIlvoy is the Regents Professor at New Mexico State University, where he has taught fictions courses for more than 17 years. He is also on the faculty of Warren Wilson’s master of fine arts degree program for writers. McIlvoy holds master’s degrees from the University of Arizona and Colorado State University.
