UNC Asheville Hosts Global Warming DebateThe devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina left many convinced that global climate change is finally announcing its arrival; others disagree. UNC Asheville students will debate the scientific evidence and potential impact of global warming at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at UNC Asheville’s Humanities Lecture Hall. A question-and-answer session and refreshments will follow the debate. The event is free and open to the public. Participating students are David Kelly of Lumberton, N.C.; Chris Martin of Clarksville, Tenn.; Paulina Mendez of Deep Gap, N.C.; Ben Meyer of Wilmington; Alyssa Samet of Greensboro; and Morgan Weeks of Floyd, Va. UNC Asheville Atmospheric Sciences Assistant Professor Christopher Hennon will serve as moderator. Hennon joined UNC Asheville faculty this fall and previously worked as a visiting scientist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Tropical Prediction Center and the National Hurricane Center in Miami. For more information, call Dr. Hennon at 828/232-5159. Media Contacts:
