UNC Asheville to Host Student-Moderated Candidate Forum;
Asheville City Council and Mayoral Candidates to Participate

UNC Asheville students will host and moderate a candidate forum at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, at UNC Asheville’s Highsmith Union Alumni Hall. Participating Asheville City Council candidates are Dwight Butner, Robin Cape, Bryan Freeborn, Matthew Hebb, Jan Howard, Holly Jones, Carl Mumpower, Chris Pelly, Selina Sullivan and Keith Thomson. Mayoral candidates Terry Bellamy, Bill Branyon and Charles Worley will also participate. The event is free and open to the public.

The candidate forum is organized by UNC Asheville’s student group, Active Students for a Healthy Environment (ASHE). Members from the group will serve as moderators. The forum will be conducted in a traditional debate format, allowing candidate’s equal time for statements and responses.
