UNC Asheville's Blowers Gallery to Host "Intimate Light" Photography Exhibition;
Black-and-White Images by John Dickson on View

An exhibition entitled “Intimate Light: Southern Highlands Photography,” featuring some 24 black-and-white photographs by Asheville artist John Dickson, will be on view August 8-31 at UNC Asheville’s Blowers Gallery. The show portrays images of the mountains, from tight shots of blooming rhododendrons to sweeping landscapes.

Dickson, a mountain native, is largely a self-taught photographer. His photographs of nearly every milepost on the Blue Ridge Parkway have earned critical acclaim and were featured in “Scenic Overlook: Blue Ridge Parkway,” a group exhibition at the Blue Spiral 1 Gallery in Asheville. Dickson’s work was also included in “Mountain to Mountain: Six Photographers Focus on Western North Carolina” at the Laurel Gallery in Tryon. This is his fifth solo exhibition. When not behind the lens, Dickson serves as president and CEO of Asheville Savings Bank.
