UNC Asheville to Host Third Annual Strive Not to Drive Film Festival;
Local Students' Films to be Screened
UNC Asheville will host the third annual Strive Not
to Drive Film Festival at 7 p.m. Friday, April 22, in UNC Asheville’s
Highsmith University Union Alumni Hall. Some 14 short films by local high school and college students will be screened. All
films highlight alternative modes of transportation and their benefits.
Prizes will be awarded to winners in each age group category. Posters
created for the film festival by UNC Asheville students will also be
displayed. The event is free and open to the public.
The film festival is held in conjunction with the
15th annual Strive Not to Drive Week, which is coordinated by the
Land-of-Sky Regional Council and Healthy Buncombe with help from a
diverse partnership of local organizations and businesses. The week-long
series of events is meant to encourage people to avoid driving their
