UNC Asheville's Music Department to Hold Three October ConcertsUNC Asheville’s Music Department will continue its 2005-06 concert season with three concerts in October. The events are open to the public and will be held in UNC Asheville’s Lipinsky Auditorium. Admission is $5 at the door. Flutist Judi Lampert will present a concert of German music at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2. She will be joined by Elsa O’Farrell on piano and harpsichord and Frances Duff on cello. “Music from Deutschland” will include works by Telemann, Reinecke, Bach, Hindemith, Beethoven, and von Weber. The University Singers along with the University String Quartet will take the stage to perform selections from Broadway shows and Appalachian tunes at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23. The two groups will perform under the direction of Paul Templon and Inez Redman. The UNCA Big Band and Jazz Combo will present swing-era vocal and instrumental selections at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, under the direction of David Wilken.
