UNC Asheville to Hold Fourth Annual Multimedia Arts and Sciences Juried Student Exhibition

UNC Asheville’s Fourth Annual Multimedia Arts and Sciences Juried Student Exhibition will be on view April 8-19 in UNC Asheville’s Highsmith University Union Gallery. An opening reception will be held from 3-7 p.m. Friday, April 8, in the gallery. Media artist Jessica Irish will serve as juror. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

UNC Asheville students will exhibit original digital works, including computer art, Web applications, video, gaming and animation. Their subjects cover a wide range, from personal expression to commercial application, from communication and information technology to science, architecture, literature and music.

Irish currently serves as assistant professor of art and co-director of the media arts and sciences program at Wellesley College. Her research focuses on new ways to visualize and construct ideas of urban space, landscape, architecture and technology. Irish’s work in new media has been screened and exhibited internationally, including showings in Brazil, Canada, Germany, Australia and various locations in the United States.
           
 The gallery is located on the ground floor of UNC Asheville’s Highsmith University Union. The gallery is free and open to the public from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
