N.C. Center for Creative Retirement Hosts Health Education SeriesThe North Carolina Center for Creative Retirement will host a series of lunchtime talks focused on medical and health-related topics from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. on Tuesdays from October 11-November 1. The Health Education Series will feature expert speakers discussing the rapid changes in healthcare fields and its implications. Attendees may purchase a light lunch at the Reuter Center or may bring their own. All events are free and open to the public. M. Cissy Majebe, director of Chinese Acupuncture and Herbology Clinic, will host a talk on alternative medicine on October 11. She will share information on traditional Chinese medicine and holistic approaches to diagnoses and treatment for individual healing. David Blackmon, chaplain and director of the Bioethics Committee at Mission Hospitals, will give a talk on medical ethics on October 18. He will discuss various case studies of healthcare situations and their ethical dilemmas. Dr. Edward A. Lewis, of Carolinas Center for the Advanced Management of Pain, will join others from Mission Hospitals to share the latest information on pain management techniques for both chronic and episodic pain on October 25. Dr. Jeffrey D. Stillson, of Mountain Area Hospice, will discuss end-of-life issues on November 1.
