UNC Asheville to Host Free College Financial Aid Workshop February 19;
Families Can Get Help Filling Out FASFA Forms
UNC Asheville will host the annual Free Application
for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Day from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Feb. 19,
at UNC Asheville’s Karpen Hall lower level. Nearly 18 college financial
aid professionals will be on hand to help high school students and their
families complete and electronically submit their FAFSA forms. FAFSA is
the standard form used to apply for college financial aid, including
grants, loans and work-study.
“The FASFA form can be a bit intimidating to fill
out, but we want parents to know that we are here to help,” said Beth
Bartlett, UNC Asheville Financial Aid associate director. “This event
isn’t just for students who would like to attend UNC Asheville, it is
for all students who are interested in attending college anywhere.”
Those who attend FAFSA Day should plan to bring
federal tax forms and a completed FAFSA pre-application worksheet. To
simplify the FAFSA completion process, students and parents are urged to
obtain a personal identification number prior to the event. To obtain a
number, visit
www.pin.ed.gov/.

FAFSA Day is sponsored by UNC Asheville’s Financial
Aid Office, College Foundation of North Carolina and the North Carolina
Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators.
