UNC Asheville Students to Spend Summer Working in Washington

Four UNC Asheville students were recently chosen to spend the upcoming summer semester working and studying in Washington, D.C., through the first “UNC in Washington” program. Marc Gellman, Sarah Schmidt, Leanna Terrell and Alan Williford were chosen to represent UNC Asheville in the summer session, along with some 38 students from other UNC schools.

Students will have the opportunity to spend up to 32 hours a week as interns in Washington-based organizations such as the U.S. Congress, the U.S. Executive branch, think tanks and interest groups. Interns will also spend three hours per week in an academic seminar. Students will live in UNC-leased residences in the Capitol Hill area and will receive a minimum of 12 hours course credit.
