UNC Asheville Student Groups Host Rock the Vote October 2UNC Asheville’s Student Government Association and Sigma Nu fraternity will host a day-long Rock the Vote event from 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, on UNC Asheville’s Quad. UNC Asheville’s Rock the Vote will feature voter registration, talks by political candidates, speakers and music by local bands. The event is free and open to the public. A number of political candidates are slated to speak for 15 minutes each. The lineup, which is subject to change, includes:
Other speakers include political scientist Dolly Jenkins-Mullen and members of the local Libertarian and Green parties. Headliner bands include Secret Lives from 8:55-9:30 p.m., The Carcinogens from 8:10-8:45 p.m. and Einstein’s Dream from 6:40-7:15 p.m. Other bands scheduled to perform throughout the day are All Girls Staff, Best Before Yesterday, Drugmoney, Fairground Avenue, Phobus and The Echoes of Tyme.
