UNCA to Host Reading and Book Signing by
Playwright Brian Silberman
UNC Asheville will host a reading and book signing by playwright Brian
Silberman at 2:20 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at UNCA's Laurel Forum, 139 Karpen
Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
Silberman is an assistant professor in the M.F.A. Creative Writing
Program at Old Dominion University. He received the 2003 Pinter Review
Prize for Drama for his play "Manifest," and his play "Walkin'
Backward" was included in the anthology "Best American Short
Plays of 2000-2001." Silberman's other plays include "Salvage
Baas," "Sugar Down Billie Hoak," "Feral Music,"
"Half Court" and "Throw," which was produced as part
of Brave New World Arts Benefit for victims of the September 11 terrorist
attacks in New York.
The event is sponsored by UNCA's Literature Club, the Creative Writing
Program at UNCA and the Center for Jewish Studies at UNCA.
