UNCA Wraps Up 2003-04 Concert Season

UNC Asheville's Music Department will wrap up its annual concert season with a performance by the UNCA String Quartet, University Singers and UNCA Concert Band at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 2, in UNCA's Lipinsky Auditorium. Admission is $5.

The UNCA String Quartet will open the program with the Mozart quartet in G major, K. 387 and Albeniz's Spanish Dance. Quartet members are students Molloy Glenn and Maria Potapov, violins; Jennifer Stanley, viola; and Ryan Kelly, cello. They are coached by faculty member Inez Redman.

The University Singers, under the direction of Chuck Taft and accompanied by Paul Templon, will perform such works as "Londonderry Air," "I'm Beginning to See the Light" and "Mood Indigo." Soloists will be Lindsey Apelskog, Eric Cover, Hannah Fox and John Inglese. The Singers will be backed-up by a jazz combo.

The UNCA Concert Band directed by Will Talley, and guest conductor Robert C. Johnson, will perform a wide variety of music, from the "National Emblem March" to the popular music of John Williams, composer for the "Star Wars" film series. Featured soloists are UNCA seniors Shannon Siemens on flute and Laura Logeman on clarinet.
