"Out of Hand: Textile Art with a Twist," an exhibition of three-dimensional wall hangings by local artist Sara B. May, are on view through October 29 at UNC Asheville's Blowers Gallery. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

May's work features hand and commercially dyed fabric, hand embroidery and beadwork and appliqué techniques. The wall hangings are inspired by nature and symbolism taken from her travels around the world. May's work has been featured in "The 21st Annual Asheville Quilt Competition and Exhibit" at the N.C. Arboretum and "Topophilia II: Mapping the Hidden Landscape" at Clayton Street Gallery in Athens, Ga.
