UNCA to Host Talk by Poet, Writer and Translator
Reginald Gibbons
UNC Asheville will host a talk by poet, writer and translator Reginald
Gibbons at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 12, at UNCA's Laurel Forum, 139 Karpen
Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
Gibbons is an English professor at Northwestern University. His books
of poetry include "It's Time and Sparrow: New and Selected
Poems." Gibbons has translated many work including the Greek works
"Bakkhai" and "Anitgone." He is the editor of
"The Poet's Work" and has also published numerous books. Gibbons
has held Guggenheim and NEA fellowships in poetry and received the
Anisfield Wolf Book Award and the Carl Sandburg Prize, among other honors.
The event is sponsored by UNCA's Literature Club, the Creative Writing
Program at UNCA, the Classics Society at UNCA and UNCA's Departments of
Literature and Language.
