TheatreUNCA Presents the Premiere Performance of
"The Frankenstein Project"

Treavor Gouge as Victor Frankenstein
Treavor Gouge as
Victor Frankenstein

TheatreUNCA will stage the premiere performance of "The Frankenstein Project" April 15-18 and 21-25 at UNC Asheville's Carol Belk Theatre. Curtain is 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday with a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee. All shows are open to the public.

"The Frankenstein Project," an original script by UNCA students and faculty, is based on Mary Shelley's classic novel. This modern adaptation explores Victor Frankenstein's nightmare the night before his death. During his dream, Frankenstein is tried for crimes against God and is questioned about his actions, beliefs and motivations in the creation of his monster.

"The Frankenstein Project" is directed by Scott Walters, UNCA assistant professor of drama. The cast and crew are made up of UNCA drama majors and students from other fields.

During the run of "The Frankenstein Project," a special sculpture installation by 5th-8th grade students participating in UNCA's Super Saturday Program will be on view. The exhibition, which will be located in the Carol Belk Theatre lobby, portrays the children’s concepts of monsters and dreams.

Tickets for all performances are $10 general admission, $8 for senior citizens and $5 for students. Because of the intimate size of UNCA's Carol Belk Theatre and often heavy demand for tickets, advance purchase is strongly advised. Tickets may be ordered by phone by calling 828/232-2291 between 10 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays. Tickets are also available at the box office 90 minutes before curtain and online.
