UNCA Offers Continuing Education Classes in Creative WritingUNC Asheville will offer three continuing education creative writing courses this spring. The seven-week classes will meet on the UNCA campus and are open to all interested writers. Cost is $80 per class. Bobbie Pell, a Marshall native will instruct all classes. Pell holds a master's degree in English and composition from Western Carolina University and is a professional storyteller. "Creative Non-fiction: Personal Narratives" will meet from 7-9 p.m. Mondays beginning March 22. This course will assist writers in creating dynamic characters in vivid settings. Techniques and exercises will be explored to aid the flow, clarity and readability of each writer's work. "Story Structures: Strengthening Your Plot Lines" will meet from 7-9 p.m. Tuesdays beginning March 23. This course will help writers improve the organization and structure of their stories. The class is appropriate for fiction and non-fiction writers. "Unblocking Your Imagination" will meet from 7-9 p.m. Thursdays beginning March 25. This course will assist writers in overcoming the problem of writer's block. Students will explore dynamic exercises to free creative energies and allow writing to flow. Students will be able to consider the blocks they face and how work habits and patterns are responsible for them.
