UNCA Students and Faculty Honored with Academic and Leadership Awards

UNC Asheville presented academic and leadership awards to UNCA students and faculty at a ceremony on April 28 at Diana Wortham Theatre. The 18th annual Academic and Leadership Awards Celebration was sponsored by UNCA’s Division of Academic and Student Affairs and the Student Government Association.

The following awards were presented:

Campuswide Leadership Awards: Carolyn Briggs Award for Contributions to Diversity to Scarlett Freeman, Kimberly Gentry, Tarik Glenn and Jennifer Smith; Outstanding Dedication to Community Service Awards to Habitat for Humanity UNCA and Kimberly Gentry; Organization Advisor of the Year Awards to Greg Boudreaux (Alliance), Mark MacLean (Alliance), Karin Peterson (Alliance) and Lorena Russell (Alliance); Outstanding Organization of the Year Award to All Girl Staff; Organization President of the Year Awards to Erin Trigonoplos (Habitat for Humanity), Courtney Modlin (Amnesty) and Scarlett Lopez Freeman (ASIA); Emerging Leader of the Year Awards to Melissa Beaver, Mike Bowers, Brian Davis, Tarik Glenn, Genevieve Grandadam, Christina Harlow, Oliver Holmes, Erin McDonald, Steven Rush; Outstanding Leader of the Year Awards to Anushka Jagdeo, Genessa Jagdeo and Sean McDonald

Art: Outstanding Student Award to Kelsey Wheeler

Athletics: Male Athlete of the Year Award to Paul Ambrose; Female Athlete of the Year Award to Hilary McKay; Scholar Athlete Award to Micki Logue

Atmospheric Sciences: Academic Excellence Awards to Mark R. Jordan II, Donald F. Van Dyke III and Scott D. Scallion; Outstanding Service Award to Laura T. Pickens
