UNC Asheville 2004-05 Writers at Home Series Continues with Readings by David Schulman and Katherine Soniat

UNC Asheville's Writers at Home Series continues with readings by David Schulman and Katherine Soniat at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, at Malaprop's Bookstore/Café, 55 Haywood St. Writers at Home is part of the Great Smokies Writing Program. The even is free and open to the public.

Schulman's debut novel, "The Past is Never Dead," a mystery set in Asheville, was published in June by John Blair Publishing. He is a frequent contributor to "Our State" magazine. Schumlan won first place in the Greenville, S.C. Creative Loafing Magazine's 2002 fiction contest.

Soniat has published several volumes of poetry, including "The Fire Setters," which is available through the Web del Sol/The Literary Online Chapbook Series. Her fourth collection, "Alluvial," was published by Bucknell University Press. Soniat's poetry has received numerous awards, including the Iowa poetry prize and a Virginia Prize for poetry. Her poetry has appeared in "The Southern Poetry Review," "Iowa Review," "Seneca Review," "Bellevue Literary Review," "Shenandoah" and "Hotel Amerika." Soniat teaches in the Master of Fine Arts Program at Virginia Tech.
