UNC Asheville's Family Business Forum Hosts WorkshopUNC Asheville's Family Business Forum will host a workshop with award-winning author and consultant Alan G. Robinson from 8 a.m.-noon Wednesday, Oct. 27, at UNC Asheville’s Highsmith University Union Mountain Suites. An optional lunch will follow. The workshop, entitled "Ideas are Free," will explore the ways in which family businesses can promote and benefit from employees’ ideas. Attendees will receive a copy of Robinson’s latest book, "Ideas are Free: How the Idea Revolution is Liberating People and Transforming Organizations." Robinson, who holds a doctorate from Johns Hopkins University, is a professor in the Department of Finance and Operations Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst Isenberg School of Management. He is co-author of "Corporate Creativity: How Innovation and Improvement Actually Happen," which was a finalist for the 1998 Financial Time/Booz Allen & Hamilton Global Best Business Book Award and was named "Book of the Year" by the Academy of Human Resources Management. Robinson has worked with more than 120 organizations in 11 countries to improve business performance. Registration is required. The program is open to forum members and their guests.
