UNC Asheville's Family Business Forum to Host Program on the FISH! PhilosophyUNC Asheville's Family Business Forum will host a program on "The FISH! Philosophy" from 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, at the Center at Crest Mountain, 30 Ben Lippen School Rd. An optional lunch buffet will immediately follow the program. Chimney Rock Park President Todd Morse and his team will demonstrate how to create a positive, fun work environment while getting tangible bottom-line results. The FISH! Philosophy is a customer service concept that also improves employee retention and accountability. This philosophy is used successfully by businesses in 28 countries, including financial institutions, hospitals, manufacturing and service groups, recreational organizations and theme parks. Chimney Rock Park the winner of the inaugural First Citizens Bank Amazing Customer Service Award in 2002 and credits the FISH! Philosophy with helping the company attain this honor. UNC Asheville's Family Business Forum, the first program of its kind in the region, was developed to enhance the continued viability of family-owned businesses in Western North Carolina. Membership in the forum is open to firms that have a family member with controlling interest in the business and at least one family member currently employed in the business. In addition to seminars and workshops, members receive current research and articles on family business issues, a newsletter and the opportunity to network with other family-owned business members who face similar challenges of perpetuating a family business. Registration for the workshop is required. The program is open to forum members and their guests; a limited number of seats are available for family business owners interested in membership.
