UNCA Writers at Home Series Continues with Readings by Valerie Ann Leff and Gilbert Allen

UNC Asheville's Writers at Home fall series continues with readings by Valerie Ann Leff and Gilbert Allen at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at Malaprop's Bookstore/Café, 55 Haywood St. Writers at home is part of the Great Smokies Writing Program. The event is free and open to the public.

Leff has had stories and essays published in The Antioch Review, Carolina Quarterly, The Seattle Review and the South Carolina Review. Her first book, "Better Homes and Husbands," is due for release from St. Martin’s Press in June 2004. Leff has been both a student and teacher in the Great Smokies Writing Program.

Allen, a Long Island native, received both his masters degree and doctorate from Cornell University. His most recent poetry collection, "Driving to Distraction," was published in January, 2003 and was featured on Garrison Keillor's "The Writer's Almanac." Allen's work has appeared in such publications as The American Scholar, The Georgia Review, The Southern Review and Image. He now resides in South Carolina and teaches at Furman University.
