UNCA Writers at Home Series Continues with Readings

UNC Asheville's Writers at Home fall series continues with readings by
Jasmine Beach-Ferrara and Dannye Romine Powell at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21,
at Malaprop's Bookstore/Café, 55 Haywood St. Writers at Home is part of
the Great Smokies Writing Program. The event is free and open to the
public.
Beach-Ferrara is a graduate of Warren Wilson's Master of Fine Arts
Program and is currently the Joan Beebe Teaching fellow at Warren Wilson
College. Her stories have appeared in The Harvard Review and BlitheHouse
Quarterly. She is working on a collection of short fiction.
Powell's latest collection of poetry, "The Ecstasy of
Regret," was listed as one of the country's top 10 poetry books this
year by Foreword Magazine. The collection won the Brockman Campbell Award
and the Oscar Arnold Young Award and was also one of five finalists for
the Southeastern Bookseller's Association Award. Powell is the recipient
of several poetry fellowships and her poems have appeared in journals such
as Poetry, The Paris Review and the Georgia Review.
