UNCA's Writers at Home Series Kicks Off with Readings by Sebastian Matthews, Kathy SheldonUNC Asheville's Writers at Home fall series kicks off with readings by Sebastian Matthews and Kathy Sheldon at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, at Malaprop's Bookstore/Café, 55 Haywood St. Writers at Home is part of the Great Smokies Writing Program. The event is free and open to the public. Matthews teaches part-time at Warren Wilson College and edits "RIVENDELL," a place-based literary journal. He recently completed a memoir, "In My Father’s Footsteps" (Norton, 2004) and co-edited, with Stanley Plumly, "Search Party: Collected Poems of William Matthews" (Houghton Mifflin, 2004). His work has appeared in Atlantic Monthly, New England Review and Seneca Review. Sheldon has published poetry in The Florida Review, Plainsong and other literary journals. She has worked as an editor and writer in both magazine and book publishing, and taught at the University of Iowa, Warren Wilson College and the Great Smokies Writing Program.
