UNCA Offers Required Teachers' Course

Registration is now open for the summer session of Effective Teacher Training, a required course for teaching and substituting in some North Carolina public school systems, including Buncombe County and Asheville City public schools. The class is offered through UNC Asheville’s Continuing and Professional Education Department and will meet in UNCA’s Owen Conference Center.

Effective Teacher Training will cover a wide variety of subject areas, including behavior management, sub packets, emergency procedures, N.C. public school policy, N.C. course of study and legal issues. The course may qualify for renewal certification credit for teachers who receive prior approval by their school districts.

The class will meet from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on four consecutive Saturdays from July 19-August 9. Cost is $60 plus textbook. Participants will receive a certificate of completion. Three continuing education credits are available with a $15 processing fee due with completed form at the end of the class.

Class size is limited. Early registration is suggested.
