UNCA Offers Required Teachers' Course

Registration is now open for Effective Teacher Training, a required course for teaching and substituting in some North Carolina public school systems, including Buncombe County. The class is offered through UNC Asheville’s Continuing and Professional Education Department and will meet on the UNCA campus.

Effective Teacher Training will cover developmentally effective teaching strategies, behavior management, developing pacing guides that align with N.C. Standard Course of Study, School Improvement Plans, N.C. Public School Policy and legal issues. The course may qualify for renewal certification credit for teachers who receive prior approval by their school districts.

The class will meet from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. January 25, February 1, 8 and 15. Cost is $55. All course materials are provided and participants will receive a certificate of completion. Class size is limited.
