UNCA Music Department Holds October Concerts

UNC Asheville’s Music Department will feature two faculty recitals on its October concert schedule. Both concerts are open to the public. Admission is $5 at the door.

New UNCA Music Department faculty member Hwa-Jin Kim will perform a piano recital featuring the works of Haydn, Beethoven, Liszt and Bartok at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, in UNCA’s Lipinsky Auditorium. Kim will perform on a Steinway Concert Grand piano provided by the company. A native of South Korea, Kim has studied piano since the age of five. She has performed concerts in South Korea, Italy and across the eastern United States.

Flutist Judi Lampert, a UNCA Music Department faculty member, will perform a recital at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, in UNCA’s Humanities Lecture Hall. She will be joined by classical guitarist Roger Allen Cope of Brevard College. They will perform works by Telemann, Giuliani, La Montaine, Bartok, Ibert and Robert Bease. A veteran orchestral player and soloist, Lampert played flute and piccolo with the Illinois Symphony for 20 years. She has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Center and at the National Flute Convention.
