Civil War Historians to Discuss the Evolution of the Northern Virginia Army; UNCA Hosts Western North Carolina Civil War Round TableCivil War Historians Robert K. Krick Sr. and Robert E.L. Krick Jr. will be the featured speakers at a special meeting of the Western North Carolina Civil War Round hosted by UNC Asheville Saturday, March 1. The two experts will discuss "The Evolution of the Army of Northern Virginia from 1862-1865: High Tide and Ebb Tide" at 7:30 p.m. in Robinson Hall room 125. The talk will be preceded by a meet-the-speakers session at 6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Krick Sr. is the recently retired superintendent of the Fredericksburg National Battle Field Park. He is noted for his research and for his successful efforts in battlefield preservation in central Virginia. His most recent book, "The Smoothbore Volley that Doomed the Confederacy," (Louisiana State University Press, 2002) concerns the wounding of Stonewall Jackson at Chancellorsville. Krick Jr. is the superintendent of Richmond Battle Field Park and has published several articles. The program is made possible through a donation by Dr. Mike Masters of Clyde.
