Public Invited to Upcoming UNCA Humanities LecturesUNC Asheville invites the public to attend a series of weekly lectures on the humanities. The lectures, part of UNCA's Humanities Program, are given by UNCA faculty members and are free to the public. ** Week of February 3: Katie Peters, assistant professor of history, will examine "Ancient Israel" at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, in Lipinsky Auditorium. The lecture is part of the Humanities 124 course, "The Ancient World." Tracey Rizzo, assistant professor of history, will discuss "Comparative Revolutions: The American, French and Haitian Revolutions" at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, in Lipinsky Auditorium. The lecture is part of the Humanities 324 course, "The Modern World." Katie Peters, assistant professor of history, will examine the "Modern Middle East" at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, in the Humanities Lecture Hall. The lecture is part of the Humanities 414 course, "The Individual in the Contemporary World."
Keya Maitra, assistant professor of philosophy, will speak about "South Asia" at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, in Lipinsky Auditorium. The lecture is part of the Humanities 124 course, "The Ancient World." Gordon Wilson, associate professor of philosophy, will examine "Christianity and the Medieval Mind" at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, in the Humanities Lecture Hall. The lecture is part of the Humanities 214 course, "The Medieval World." "The Industrial Revolution and Marxism" is the topic of John McClain's discussion at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb 14, in Lipinsky Auditorium. McClain is a humanities and philosophy lecturer. The lecture is part of the Humanities 324 course, "The Modern World." Jim Lenberg, professor of history at Mars Hill College will explore "China" at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb.14, in the Humanities Lecture Hall. The lecture is part of the Humanities 414 course, "The Individual in the Contemporary World."
"China" will be the focus of Ted Uldricks' discussion at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, in Lipinsky Auditorium. Uldricks is the director of UNCA's Master of the Liberal Arts Program. The lecture is part of the Humanities 124 course, "The Ancient World." Connie Schrader, lecturer in health and fitness and Dance Program director, will discuss "Medieval Music and Art" at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, in the Humanities Lecture Hall. The lecture is part of the Humanities 214 course, "The Medieval World." Edward Katz, assistant professor of literature and language, and Seamus McNerney, humanities lecturer, will speak about "Romanticism" at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, in Lipinsky Auditorium. The lecture is part of the Humanities 324 course, "The Modern World. William Spellman, history professor, will explore "India" at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, in the Humanities Lecture Hall. The lecture is part of the Humanities 414 course, "The Individual in the Contemporary World."
"Philosophy" will be the topic of William Sabo's discussion at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, in Lipinsky Auditorium. Sabo is an associate professor of political science. The lecture is part of the Humanities 124 course, "The Ancient World." Grant Hardy, assistant professor of history, will speak about "Medieval Asia and Imperial China" at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, in the Humanities Lecture Hall. The lecture is part of the Humanities 214 course, "The Medieval World." Sarah Judson, associate professor of history, will examine "Women and the Quest for Universal Suffrage" at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, in Lipinsky Auditorium. The lecture is part of the Humanities 324 course, "The Modern World." "Human Rights" will be the focus of Brian Butler and Elmoiz Abunura's lecture at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, in the Humanities Lecture Hall. Butler is an assistant philosophy professor and Abunara is a political science lecturer. The lecture is part of the Humanities 414 course, "The Individual in the Contemporary World."
Lora Holland, assistant professor of classics, and David Steele, associate professor of mathematics, will examine "Ancient Science and Math" at 11 a.m. Monday, March 3, in Lipinsky Auditorium. The lecture is part of the Humanities 124 course, "The Ancient World." Cynthia Ho, director of the Humanities Program and associate professor of literature and language, will discuss the "Late Medieval Transition: Medieval Women" at 11 a.m. Monday, March 3, in the Humanities Lecture Hall. The lecture is part of the Humanities 214 course, "The Medieval World." Dolly Jenkins Mullen, assistant professor of political science, will discuss "Racism and Slavery" at 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, in Lipinsky Auditorium. The lecture is part of the Humanities 324 course, "The Modern World." "Civil Rights and Black Protest Thought" will be the topic of Sarah Judson's lecture at 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, in the Humanities Lecture Hall. Judson is an associate professor of history.
