UNCA Board of Trustees Recommends
Student Fee Increase
UNC Asheville's Board of Trustees on Wednesday approved a proposed
student fee schedule for the 2003-04 academic year, following a
recommendation from the campus Fees Committee. The committee membership
includes representatives from the administration, faculty, students, staff
and the board of trustees. Student fees allow UNCA to offer a range of
services to students, including health services, cultural events,
recreation, and computer labs.
The recommended fee increase totals $33.25 per semester for full-time
students, a 4.88 percent increase. Overall, student fees would rise from
$681 per semester to $714.25. The proposed fee schedule now moves to the
University of North Carolina Board of Governors for consideration later
this year.
Fees to be increased are: health services, $69, up $3.25; athletics,
$234.50, up $11; recreation, $65.50, up $5; Highsmith Student Center
operations, $66.25, up $6; and educational and technology, $61.50, up
$6.50; and Campus Commission (student activities), $52, up $1.50. Other
fees remained the same.
