UNCA to Host Free Performance of Political Satire "Confetti"

UNC Asheville Drama Department will present a performance of the new political satire "Confetti" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, at UNCA’s Carol Belk Theatre. The show is free and open to the public.

Written and composed by local musician Dave Bates, "Confetti" satirizes many of America’s political policies. The performance is comprised of witty lyrics and entertaining musical numbers in the flavor of the Capitol Steps.

"Confetti" will be staged by UNCA drama students who have been involved in the Tour Show company during spring semester. These student have performed a Theatre for Young Audiences play at area elementary schools. Bates served as musical accompanist for the show. The students will present "Confetti" in Bates’ honor in gratitude for the many contributions he has made to the Drama Department this year.
