UNCA Knowledge Bowl Holds Final Rounds November 1;
Eight Western Region Teams Advance
Eight western region high school teams will advance to the final rounds
of the 36th annual UNC Asheville Knowledge Bowl at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov.
1, at UNCA’s Karpen Hall. East Rowan, Hendersonville, Lincolnton, North
Buncombe, R.S. Central, T.C. Roberson, West Lincoln and Wilkes Central
high schools advance out of 23 teams to compete in the head to head in the
double elimination round. The winning team receives $400 and the
opportunity to move on to a national competition.
Each school sends teams of six students to answer an array of questions
written by UNCA faculty members on topics ranging from science and
mathematics to history and literature. Some 25 UNCA faculty and staff and
30 students have volunteered for the event.
The Knowledge Bowl is co-sponsored by Sodexho, Pepsi and Entenmann's.
