UNCA to Hold Second Annual Multimedia Arts and Sciences
Juried Student Exhibition
UNC Asheville will hold "Bitscapes," the Second Annual Multimedia Arts and Sciences Juried Student Exhibition, from 3-8 p.m. Thursday, April 17, in UNCA's Laurel Forum, Karpen Hall. Jillian McDonald, assistant professor of computer art at Pace University in New York, will serve as juror. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
UNCA students will present original digital works in the following categories: 2-D animation, 3-D animation, the Web, audio, still graphics, interactive media and video. These works are the results of class assignments and independent study produced within the last 12 months.
McDonald is a Canadian performance and media artist whose videos have been screened at the Toronto International Art Fair, Italy's VideominutoPop TV and Star 67 Gallery in Brooklyn, N.Y. She has received a Canada Council for the Arts Grant for the creation of a body of performance work titled "In the Public Eye." Upcoming project include "Borrowed Clothes (Seams)" for Looking In, a site-specific exhibition in lower Manhattan storefronts, and "Advice Lounge," a Web project for Videographe and Vitamin B in Montréal.
