UNC Asheville will host a Martin Luther King Day celebration at
5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, at UNCA’s Lipinsky Auditorium. The program, "Reflections," features critically acclaimed renditions of King’s speeches performed by Jim Lucas. The event is free and open to the public.

Lucas’ one-man show was inspired by his participation in the 1963
March on Washington and smaller protests and demonstrations to achieve school integration in his hometown of Lake Providence, La.
Since then, Lucas has traveled the nation delivering various renditions
of King’s "I Have a Dream," "I’ve Been to the Mountaintop" and "A Knock at Midnight" speeches as well as excerpts from the "Letter from Birmingham Jail."

The program is sponsored by UNCA’s Diversity and Multicultural Affairs Office, Multicultural Student Affairs Office and the African American Student Association.

For more information, call UNCA’s Multicultural Student Affairs Office at 828/251-6671.
