UNCA's Writers at Home Series Continues with Readings

UNC Asheville’s Writers at Home fall series continues with readings
by author Brian McGrady and poet Mark Swanson at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15,
at Malaprop’s Bookstore/Café, 55 Haywood St. Writers at Home is part of
the Great Smokies Writing Program, a consortium of Western Carolina
writers and UNCA’s Creative Writing Program. The event is free and open
to the public.
McGrady, a 1999 graduate of UNCA, recently had a story published in the
Berkeley Fiction Review. One of his short stories placed in the Virginia
Highlands Festival Creative Writing Contest.
Swanson, who holds a M.F.A. from Warren Wilson College, is director of
creative writing at the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts
Academy at Converse College. His poems have been published in Virginia
Quarterly, Passages North and Cumberland Poetry Review, among others. He
teaches English at Rabun County High School in north Georgia, where he was
named Teacher of the Year.
