UNCA to Host Talk on Christian Approach to Higher Education

UNC Asheville Humanities Student Association will host a talk on "A Christian Approach to Higher Education" by theologian Russell Reno at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, in UNCA’s Owen Conference Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Reno, who holds a Ph.D. from Yale University, is an associate theology professor at Creighton University. He is author of several books, including "Redemptive Change: Atonement and the Christian Cure of the Soul" and "Heroism and the Christian Life: Reclaiming Excellence" with Brian Hook, UNCA assistant professor of classics. His latest book, "In the Ruins of the Church: Sustaining Faith in the Age of Diminished Christianity," explores the effects of modernity on organized religion and in particular, on Episcopalianism.

A reception and book signing will follow his talk.
